Clear Aligners

WHAT ARE CLEAR ALIGNERS?

Clear aligners are specifically designed to straighten and realign your smile. These aligners are comfortable and easy to wear, and they can be removed whenever you eat or brush your teeth. Clear aligner treatment is just as effective as traditional braces, but without the look of metal bracketing or wiring. We even offer SureSmile Clear Aligners in our office as an option for our various patients.

WHY MIGHT CLEAR ALIGNERS BE NEEDED?

Orthodontic problems can leave a person feeling badly about their appearance. Whether you’re a parent of a child or teen who has bite issues or you have problems yourself, clear aligners can quickly and effectively straighten your teeth to a beautiful finish. Likewise, when your teeth are crooked or crowded, it can be impossible to keep them properly clean, so you’ll be benefiting your oral health while improving the look of your teeth.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR CLEAR ALIGNERS?

Clear aligners can and should be removed throughout the day, but it is crucial that they be worn for at least 22 hours every day. This is why they are best for older children, teens and adults who can commit to treatment. Most patients are good candidates for clear aligner treatment, even if they feel their orthodontic problems are too severe for these aligners. Our dentist, Dr. Alan J. Schwartz DDS, PC conduct an exam and take x-rays to decipher if clear aligner treatment is right for you.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE CLEAR ALIGNER PROCESS?

The first step is to consult with you by taking x-rays, performing an exam and doing a scan or impression of your teeth. This allows us to make your very first set of clear aligners. These aligners need to be worn for most of the day and night, and should only be taken out when you eat something, brush or floss. You will then come back into the office after a few weeks to have new impressions done and a new set of clear aligners made. You will go through many sets of aligners over the course of treatment as your teeth begin to shift. Once treatment is finished, we will fit you with a retainer to maintain your new, beautiful smile.
